Meredith, Shane and Amanda will head up a strong ACT Greens team which will advocate for more affordable and sustainable housing, better access to public transport, a bigger voice for the community in the Assembly and a city which leads the way on climate change.
"The Stanhope Government has stopped listening to the community, making a strong Greens team in the Assembly more essential than ever. The ACT Greens will work with Canberrans to ensure everyone has access to sustainable and affordable housing and better services in areas like health and education" Meredith Hunter, Greens lead candidate in Ginninderra said today.
Shane Rattenbury, Greens lead candidate in Molonglo said "Canberra is a city with enormous potential. We will be working with the community to create a bush capital that fosters innovation, such as the world-leading research and development in solar energy technology at the ANU, and leads the way on tackling climate change and protecting the environment. Clean and innovative industries will be the source of jobs for Canberrans in the future."
Amanda Bresnan said public transport was a major issue for many residents living in the suburbs of Canberra. "At the moment most Canberrans have to rely on cars to get to and from work and around town. The Greens want a fast, frequent and efficient public transport system that offers people a real choice to leave the car at home if they want to cut down on fuel costs," said Amanda Bresnan, Greens lead candidate for Brindabella.
